topographic map
A representation of the shape of the land using contour lines to depict the changes in elevation, relief and slope
elevation
Height above sea level.
relief
Difference in height from the surrounding terrain; the amount of variation in elevation and slope in a particular area.
slope
A surface of which one end or side is at a higher level than another. Can be steep or shallow.
contour line
A line on a map joining points of equal elevation.
contour interval
The difference in elevation between contour lines.
weathering
The breaking down or dissolving of rocks and minerals on Earths surface.
erosion
Transports the bits of rock and minerals away.
deposition
The process in which sediments, soil and rocks are added to a landform or land mass.
satellite image
Images of Earth or other planets collected by satellites.
